Sehj Rai is an undergraduate student in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. She will be studying the evolution of PHF21A with Yumie. By comparing sequences and analyzing biochemical functions of PHF21A from different species, they will investigate why some organisms (like invertebrates) lost PHF21A but kept other genes that work in the same complex.
